Robert And Harriett Joyner Tuttle Of Chatham Co., GA
I'm posting this message to consolidate several postings in the past on the ancestry of Robert Tuttle of 1950 and 1860 Effingham and Chatham Co. Robert's ancestors are by all appearances Thomas Tuttle who was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Bunch Tuttle. Thomas's sister was the Phereby Tuttle who married Samuel Warnock. I believe that Robert had a brother named Thomas Tuttle who is found in the 1840 Census of Chesterfield, SC along with Robert. Robert and Harriett's first male child who did not survive childhood was named Thomas after Robert's father. If you look into the 1830 Census of SC, you will find Robert's father Thomas Tuttle living next to a Hamilton Hart. Robert's wife, Harriett Joyner, was the daughter of Isaac Joyner whose sister Rebecca Joyner married Hamilton Hart. Rebecca also married a Mims. The Mims had family alliances with the Tuttles. In particular John Tuttle who married Sarah Emily Smith and moved to Lowndes Co., MS. Pinckney Tuttle of MS and later TX was a child of theirs who lived with Mims guardians in 1850.
