Benjamin Tutt Estate, 1790 Edgefield, SC

Help, help, help! Does anyone have documented support for the settlement of the estate of Benjamin Tutt who died in Edgefield County, SC, April 22, 1790? (Benjamin was married to Barbara Stalnaker and their son, James, is my direct ancestor.)

I am interested in as much detail as I can possibly get about the estate settlement and the source citations where the material can be found. My search of Edgefield probate and other records to date has revealed nothing. The only information I do have is this unsourced reference found by another Tutt researcher:

"Benjamin's will in Edgefield County, South Carolina, is dated 7 Sep 1790. Administrators were Edmond Martin (son-in-law) and his brother Gabriel. His belongings were sold to settle the estate, his widow and son-in-law bought from the estate 15 June 1791. No children are mentioned."

The references to "administrators" rather than "executors" suggests that, in fact, there was no will. If that is the case, the 7 Sep 1790 date may be the date of some estate related action such as the request or grant of Letters of Administration, or the estate inventory. Finally, the specific date of purchases from the estate and the correct names of Benjamin's son-in-law and brother suggest that there IS indeed a record of the estate settlement SOMEWHERE.

About three weeks before Benjamin died, he and Barbara sold over 5,500 acres of land to Thomas Bacon, but much personal property remained.

Any help/ideas/leads/information will be appreciated.
