From the 1825 Philadelphia CIty Directory:
Tuttels, Edward - shoe store, 32 High [street]
Tuttle, James - shipwright, Queen [street] K
Tuttle, John - shipwright, Marlborough [street] K
Tuttle, Richard - shipwright, Beach [street] above
Tuttle, William - caulker, Queen [street] K
The "K" is an abbreviation for the Kensington section of Philadelphia.
I have a feeling that my ancestor, Sarah E. Tuttle (b. 1831), is the daughter of one of these men. She also resided in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.
Does anyone have any further information on these Tuttles?
