Pierce M. Tuten is the son of Rachel Tuten. When he relocated his "Pierce M." Became "Pierson" I too once thought had a sister named Mary Elizabeth McAlpin but research has now disproven this and it simply is not so. There is indeed a Mary Elizabeth Tuten that married Daniel McAlpin in Suwannee COunty but this isn't Pierce M. Tuten's sister. Pierce M. Tuten's sister was Mary Ecella Tuten who married William Wallace McAlpin. I have her marriage certificate from the Jefferson County courthouse. My father said he remembered being told he was kin to "Jodie" Mclpin by his grandmother, Jodie turns out to be the grandson of Mary Ecella Tuten and William Wallace McAlpin. His great aunt. William Wallace is buried in Swift Creek Methodist Cemetery in White Springs. Mary E. McAlpin is also listed next to William Wallace McAlpin in the 1860 census.
