The schooner "Cecil Shave" went down in the Atlantic after being torpedoed in 1918. Amoung the crew was a John Turpin.
The War Dead of the Beaumont-Hamel War Memorial
The Newfoundland Mercantile Marine list his next of kin simply as Mrs.John Turpin of 2 Lyons Square, St. John's. Does anyone have these people in your family? I am trying to find out if the were originally from Shelburne, NS. I know the ship was built there in 1914 or so and that my John Turpin worked in the shipyards there.
