This is not a name that I am researching but I am familiar with research in Nova Scotia.
The Nova Scotia Vital Stats for about 1864 to 1920 (and beyond for dearth certificates) are available online at
www.novascotiagenealogy.ca
This is a free and searchable site although there is a $10 charge if you want to download a hardcopy of the record.
You can see the actual record by downloading the free Viewer program available on the site.
I did a quick search and found the following marriage record
NS Vital Stats Reg Year 1899,Book 1836, page 254 #17
Feb 23, 1899, Shelburne, by license, Church of England
John D. Turpin, age 22, bachelor, labourer, residing Shelburne, born Shelburne, son of Thomas (shipwright) and Jane- married
Annie Elizabeth Blackmoor, age 24, spinster, residing in Shelburne, born St. Johns, Newfoundland, dau/of George and Esther
I also noticed that the Marriage certificate of Thomas and Jane is also available at the above site and also many more records pretaining to this family including the death certificate of Thomas
The 1881 Canadian Census is available at
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asphttp://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp
There you will find the family of Thomas and Jane Turpin in Shelburne Co.If you use the "Previous Household' option you will find a couple of other Turpin families living close to Thomas and Jane who probably would be related.
The Nova Scotia GenWeb site has a great deal of online material and a lot of links. Its at

The above should give you lots of further information
