In Reply to: "Missouri" George TURNIPSEED (1894-1958) by Clay L. Brown of 446

Missouri Death Certificate
George TURNIPSEED of Strafford, Greene Co., Missouri
born: 9 Oct 1894 Oblong, Illinois
died: 24 Jun 1958 Springfield, Greene Co., Missouri
buried: Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Webster Co., Missouri
cause of death: cardio-vascular disease
occupation: farmer

father: Allen TURNIPSEED
mother: unknown
wife (informant): Georgia TURNIPSEED of Strafford, Missouri

The "married" box has an "x" but there is also the number "1" written outside the "divorced" box. Is this implying that he is married at the time of his death but divorced in the past?
George was in unknown branch of the Armed Forces at somepoint.

So here is what I have for a timeline for George:

1894 - born 09 Oct 1894 Oblong, Crawford Co., Illinois (death certificate, tombstone)

1910 Jasper Co., Illinois (census, middle initial "A.")
~1913 md. Loretta M. LEMING (1930 census Loretta age 19 at 1st marriage)
~1915 son Orville Allen born Illinois (1920/1930 census)
~1917 daughter Pearl E. born Arkansas (1920/1930 census)

~1920 daughter Margaret born Illinois (1930 census)
1920 Ford Co., Illinois (census)
~1925 md. Georgia KEPLEY of Greene Co., MO (1930 census)

[~1928 Loretta remarries Henry HILL (1930 census)]

1930 Greene Co., MO (census)

1958 died Springfield, Greene Co., MO (death certificate, tombstone)

1. I cannot find Allen, Ruey, or George on the 1900 census.
2. From the 1870 and 1880 census, Allen TURNIPSEED appears to be the son of Jackson and Sarah TURNIPSEED.
3. I can find Ruey/Ruby FLYNN on neither 1870 nor 1880 censuses.
4. In the 1910 census Allen claims his wife is born in Indiana. Again, in the 1920 census George states his mother's birthplace is Indiana. Only in the 1930 census does George claim his mother was born in Northern Ireland.

The Story of George Turnipseed begins to take shape!
