Dear Belle,
My Gt-gt grandparents, Nancy and Abraham Turnipseed settled in Pickens County, Ala. about 1830.The town is Aliceville, Ala.With them were a Robert and Elizabeth Turnipseed. They all came from S.C.
At that time, Nancy and Abraham had 9 children and all lived until grown and then started dying off.I think 3 children lived to be old.One of them was James Andrew Turnipseed, my gt-grandfather.The two Turnipseed families were amoung the founders of the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church (now Aliceville Presby.) and all are buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery very close to the town. Nancy and Abraham were the guardians of a group of Hamiter children who came with them from S.C.Are these yours?I think there are still some Turnipseeds in Aliceville.I knew of one very elderly man several years ago.Would love to hear more from you.
