Turnbull families in Tyron/Montomgery Co. mid 1700s
Does anyone on this list have Turnbull ancestors that
in the 1700s resided in what is now Montgomery Co? I Searching for a
a connection between my Turnbull ancestors and other Turnbull individuals who lived in Tyron/Montgomery area late 1700s - mid 1800s.
I have three Turnbull relatives, Robert, Sr.; Robert
Jr., and Walter [my 4th great great grandfather],
whose land was confiscated c1783, Tyron Co.Robert
Sr. headed a group of loyalists from Albany Co. NY to
Sherburne Co., Nova Scotia, Canada where they received
land. His son, Robert Jr.[born 1760-1762] also went
with him, and apparently his son, Walter [born 20 Jun
1757 .. my ancestor] since he too was assigned land in
NS.However, it is iffy Walter went to Canada, but if
he did do so, he did not remain there as he is listed
on the 1790, 1800, 1810, 1820 US Censuses, in Albany
Co., and Schenectady Co. NY, and died there c1827.
Walter named his first born son, Robert, b. 1789.
Walter Turnbull is cited several times in the "Minutes
of Commissioners for Conspiracies".
