Hi Beryl,
And I thought I'd mined the 1881 for all Nichol Forest in Cumberland.
I see how come I missed your James, Nickle Forest and living Durham.
My James was already in NZ by then (emigrated c 1864) but the presence of a Robert in the family, and the Nichol Forest makes the chance of a connection quite high.
