Hello Turnbow researchers; Just gotta speak here; I desc from George Turnbaugh/Turnbow b 1763 in SC.
Sons of John A. and Margarit Turnbaugh were;
William Eli b 1761, John b 1763, George b 1766, Issac b 1769,Joseph b 1771,Jacob b 1773,Samuel b 1775,
Andrew b 1779, James b 1780
All sons b in SC.
George Turnbaugh was the first of this family to moved to Lincoln Co.Ky. He m Susannah Coffman in 1789, Hugh Sr. was b 1793 in Ky. according to census of Wayne Co. TN.
George then m Margaret Clark in 1794 in Lincoln Co. Ky; Children were; James b 1804, John b 1805 , Virginia Ann b 1810; Hannah b abt 1812, George b after 1812- m Nancy ???
John b 1805 had a son George b 1852 in Tn.
I desc from John's son William J. Turnbow b 1850 in Tn.
Hugh Turnbow b 1793 in Ky. was married at least 3/4 times. Married at age 16, no children, Hugh and Mary (Polly Powell had the following children; Hugh Jr., Ambrose, Andrew Jackson, Elizabeth,, Jane, m James Casey, Mary m John Carrol, William, Isham, S.H. (Ted), John and Samuel.Most of these children was b and died in Wayne Co. Tn.
Forked Deer is in West Tn. I only live a few miles from a once large settlement on the Forked Deer River. John Andrew b 1740 d 1846 was supposed to have died at age 106. He was said to have been living with a gdau, probably a dau of son James. She m a ??Temple and this family was in a county next to where Forked Deer, Tn. was located in Lauderdale Co. Tn. They were there about this time frame. Grover Pope in Dyer Co. TN.
Oh ,Yes; The remaining Turnbaugh family did not show up in Ky until late 1790's. Not sure if William Eli came to Ky. Know the other sons did........ gcapope@usit.net
