For the first part of this information please check the Carson Forum for the entry I just made:
"Madison County, KY Court Records - "at Old Arrow Rock Tavern, Stephen Turley and his young son as going over the Sante Fe Trail and Kit begged to go...finally it was arranged and Turley took Kit on his first trip blazing the trail."
"Stephen Turley was born in Rowan Co., N.C. and came to Ky with his father Benjamin, who died in 1812 in Madison Co., Ky. Stephen Turley married Elizabeth Jones Oct 19, 1809, Madison Co., Ky (Ref. Hist Cooper Co., MO, p. 998-999."
"David Jones, Stephen Turley, his son-in-law, and Wm Reed brother-in-law to Stephen Turley, the three with their families were the 1st white settlers of Lamine township, they came from Ky and settled here as far back as 1811." (I have a note here that is was probably 1821)
The Turleys were connected by marriage with my Nolands, who also lived in Rowan Co., NC, then Kentucky.
