It has been quite a while since I have posted on this site and a few days ago I read the exchange between Byron Durham and Barbara Godlove. Maybe I can verify some things and shed some light on others. My information comes mostly from the Candler, Necessary and Turley books along with my own personal knowledge of family members. Henry Necessary 1803-1858 m. Mahala Candler 1806-1889 their son: Thomas J. Necessary 1834-1912 m. Sarah(Sallie Ann)Mitchell son and daughter: William Henry Nec. and Margaret Mahalia Nec. William and Margaret, brother and sister, married into the Turley family. Margaret M. Nec. 1861-1938 m. John Allen Turley 1855-1924 the son of Thomas and Martha(Gregory) Turley. William H. Nec. 1856-1920 married Mariah Alice Turley 1861-1927 the daughter of Thomas and Mary F. (Bales) Turley. Thomas and Martha had 4 children.(One was my grandfather, John Allen) Thomas and Mary had 11 children.(One was Byron's g. grandfather, James William.) My records don't have any data on Thomas and Mary's grandchildren but has a lot on Thomas and Martha's. Their first daughter, Pauline J. Turley married William B. Harmon. They had 9 children. Their next daughter, Martha Elizabeth married George Waddle. (Some books spell his name Waddell)They had 12 children. One, Daniel, married Josie Necessary, the daughter of Wm. Henry and Mariah Alice.(Some books list her name as Alice Mariah) Their first son, John Allen, as I have already stated married Margaret Mahalia Necessary. They are my grandfather and grandmother on my mother's side. They had 13 children. My mother was the 7th and was named Eliza Manerva. She married my father, Wiley Kent Dillman. I hope this has been of some help. For those interested, check out the Candler Family on this same Forum. They are an interesting and important family settling in Georgia and Virginia. They were very prominent at one time in the Lynchburg, Va., Campbell and Bedford Counties and in Georgia. Some of them moved into the Russell and Tazewell county areas.
