My great grandfather Nicholas Mavridis was a musician playing mostly clarinet in Istanbul around 1903 unwards. His wife was Sophia from Austria. He had a son Paul my grandfather born in Austria around 1896 and they went to the Greek quarters of Constantinople when he was 7 years old around 1903. He also had sisters one called Savina who married the Pasha`s right hand man. Her father Nicholas played clarinet in the palaces apparently. Paul my grandfather also became a musician with his father and played violin and piano. Paul married Maria Savaidis around 1919 and had children Nicholas who died around 3 years old and Olga born 1921 who now lives in Athens plus children born in Peristeri. I would like to know where I could get hold of any certificates or census in Instanbul or if anyone has information.
