Karagoz was important and a well known person in the Kirklareli (region). He was known by locals as Sofyozlu Bali Celebi. He was also known as Hunchback Ahmet Efendi (efendi is title for man, like gentleman).
He was smart, kind, respected, talented people's person. He gave his name to the Turkish Shadow Play. He lived from the end of 13th century to the middle of 14th century. Evliya Celebi (Evliya Celebi was Turkish travel writer)
