This is a very nice inscription on the back of CC Lum Turk & Lusy Smothers gravestone:
James Turk came from Antrium County Ulster Province North Ireland in 1757.
William Turk born 1744 North Ireland. Served as Staff Officer Rev. War.
William Turk jr b 1794 Georgia, served as Colonel in Seminole War. Later as Judge in Banks Co Georgia.
Pliney A Turk b 1817 Georgia came to Texas 1855.
William Harvey Turk b 1843 served in TX Cavalry in the Civil War. Later a Tax Assessor in Lavaca Co.
CC 'Lum' Turk b March 3 1866 was Hallettsville Rancher.
Recent discovery of some old photos has spurned this journey to find some descendants who might be able to help ID the photos. They range from 1909 backwards. Awesome discovery, totally rich in amazement.
