Colby Cady Tupper, b. 7 Jan., 1832in Eldred, Pa.,, Resided in Iowa. Served in the Civil War.In 1862 Colbgy enlisted in the Pa Bucaktails Regiment and was with that unit in every battle until he was wounded at Gettsyburg.After partially recovering from his wound, he was detailed for service in Washington DC and was in the capitol and on duty near the spot where Booth killed Lincoln at Fords Theater.Colby was one of the eight guards watching ovr Lincoln'sbody in the Capitol Rotunda. He married Name Unknown ( 2nd of four wives).Children there were other daughters.
