Lauren -

Sevier Rains Tupper, “Tup”,was my step-grandfather on my mother's side of the family. He was a Colonel in the U.S. Army and retired from Fort Benning, Columbus, GA. My mother’s mother was MARY CUTLER LUNDEEN (Polly), born West Point, New York, September 12, 1891. Educated Bryn Mawr School, Baltimore, 1904, 1905 and 1906. Graduated from Miss Hamlins, San Francisco in 1908. Married August 1910 to Lt. Edwin Pritchett. Lived at West Point and at Camp Stotsenburg, Phillipine Islands. Three children were born to them – Mary, Dorothy, and Judith (my mother). Edwin Pritchett died 1916 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Mary Lundeen then married Dr. William Kenworthy, U.S.A. 1922, but divorced 1929. She finally married Sevier R. Tupper in 1930. They lived in Panama, Germany and Philipines as well as in 14 states of the U.S.A. For a while, they lived at "Watersmeet", North, Mathews County, Virginia. They then moved to Clearwater, FL. They had no children during their marriage. 'Tup' was an avid golfer and played almost every day. He played up until a week before he pasted away. Both Mary and 'Tup' died in Clearwater, FL. Unfortunately, I do not have the birth or death dates for them.

I do not know a lot about Tup's background. He had another daughter from another marriage. Mrs. Jane T. Hillard. Her husband was George. I believe she lives in Morehead City, NC. According to a people search, she is 87 years old. I have not been in touch with her as my mother died in 1964 and my father died in 1987. Unfortunately, I am now getting interested in my family’s genealogy and have no one to ask about who, what, when, and where!

'Tup' is memorialized in the World War II memorial, Washington, D.C. Go to the website, http://www.wwiimemorial.com and search the registry for “Tupper” (last name) and “Sevier” (first name).

I would be interested in anything that you find out about ‘Tup’. It would help me with my family’s search.

Thanks.
