Dear Dean,
I am looking for the exact same ancestor. His parents and wife are very elusive. Not even the Mormon archives could shed some light on the issue. Thomas' son William and granddaughter Virginia were both buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond. However, a grandson was buried at the Hopewell Baptist Church by Tunstall, New Kent, Va. Both William and Virginia were baptised at the Hopewell Baptist Church. There is a record of Thomas C. Tunstall fighting in the War of 1812:

From the 1850 census information, I believe he had a son by the same name that is listed as the head of household.
