Dear Dean, I am looking for the exact same ancestor. His parents and wife are very elusive. Not even the Mormon archives could shed some light on the issue. Thomas' son William and granddaughter Virginia were both buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond. However, a grandson was buried at the Hopewell Baptist Church by Tunstall, New Kent, Va. Both William and Virginia were baptised at the Hopewell Baptist Church. There is a record of Thomas C. Tunstall fighting in the War of 1812: Thomas C Tunstall Company: 52 REG'T (CHRISTIAN'S) VIRGINIA MILITIA. Rank - Induction: LIEUTENANT Rank - Discharge: LIEUTENANT Roll Box: 212 Roll Exct: 602 From the 1850 census information, I believe he had a son by the same name that is listed as the head of household. Name: William R Tunstall Age: 24 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1826 Birth Place: Virginia Gender: Male Home in 1850(City,County,State): New Kent, Virginia Household Members: Name Age Frances A Tunstall 54 Thomas C Tunstall 29 William R Tunstall 24 I might visit the Virginia cemeteries where the Tunstalls are buried this August. I'll keep you posted. Best of luck! Notify Administrator about this message?
