Tunstalls of Thurland etc
First of all, apologies to all who may have tried to contact me. I have changed my e-mail address and did not inform this Forum. Mea Cumpa. It is now done.
Further to my earlier messages and requests, I have now found the missing link thanks to the diligent research of a long-lost (now found) cousin. I can therefore trace up from Copsi TUNSTALL (c 1032 in Normandy) to me, Martin Cuthbert TUNSTALL (b 1942). If anyone would like to add their tree(s), please contact me - I already have several families "marrying in".
I am currently interested in the ONIONS connection who were apparently bellow-makers from Wales and settled in Digbeth and Aston in the greater Birmingham area. The ONIONS and TUNSTALLs joined up when Elizabeth ONIONS (1852-1912) married Thomas Henry TUNSTALL (1834-1910). By this time they had moved up in the world as Eliza's cousin, Simon ONIONS, had become a wealthy Worcestershire businessman and his daughter married to become Lady Constance Hattie BARBER (née ONIONS) who was founder of the The Barber Institute of Fine Arts in Birmingham.
Any further info will be welcome.
