Francis TUNSTALL sold Thurland Castle and the manors of Thurland, Tunstall, etc to John GIRLINGTON Esq who died at Thurland Castle on 29th February, 10 Jas I; Francis purchased the manor of Hutton Longvilliers from Nichiolas Girlington, son and heir of the said John, in 1615. Francis and Elizabeth (née Gascoigne) married on 20th December, 24 Elizabeth, and had a son Marmaduke TUNSTALL of Scargill, Lord of Wycliffe. Marmaduke and his wife Katherine (née Wycliffe) had a son William of Scargill, Lord of Scargill, Hutton Longvilliers and Wycliff. I think tjat is where the name Scargill comes in; he did not change his name. Notify Administrator about this message?
