John, I tried to e-mail you directly but the mail was returned with the message: 550 <patrick@thetunneys.freeserve.uk>... Host unknown (Name server: thetunneys.freeserve.uk: The message I tried to send follows: Don't worry a bit, you are not a bother at all. The only way we're each going to make all the family connections possible is to ask questions and to help each other out. If you are new to web genealogy you may not know about the on line death index for our social security administration. It is a collection of everyone with a social security number (all Americans and I believe all permanent residents and others employed in the US) who has died since 1960. Its a free site. Actually it is available at several places but my personal favorite is http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi If you have birth dates for Mary and Anne you will at least be able to determine if they are still living. If they are among those listed, you'll know their date of death and their last residence, etc. I don't know if the applications can be ordered from out of the US but will be happy to check that for you if you don't know how and are interested in making a request. I always request the original because it was completed by the person I'm researching and can confirm guesses I may be making in my research. If you are not interested in ordering a copy of the original the info at the site may still be of help to you. Welcome aboard a most rewarding hobby -- best wishes with your research and please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I'm no expert, but I've been at it a while and may be able to help out -- or at least point you in a direction where you can find help! Sincerely, Cheri Wilkinson Los Angeles, CA Great grand daughter of Rose Ann Frances Tunney (b. 10 June 1875 Buffalo, NY d. 24 June 1954 Altadena, CA) who was the daughter of John Tunney and Mary Collins both b. NY
