Thanks for your message. I was always told that my grandfather's name was Francis Alfred, but I have since found out that it was Francis Edward. He was born in 1914 and died in 1959 in Mt Isa, Queensland. I was told that he was born in Queensland, Australia but I am not 100% sure (I need to obtain his birth certificate). My family have been mainly miners - the sheepfarm sounds like the Tunney's in Western Australia. I know that my grandfather had a cousin in Western Australia. It seems that all Tunny/Tunneys claim to be relatives of Gene Tunney at some point. With so many family members with the same name it is sometimes difficult to know who is who. Gene Tunney did have an uncle named Michael (who I presume to be my great grandfather but have not been able substantiate it).
