Hello Cheri-
I am just passing through while doing some other work and thought I'd check out your page. I don't know if our families connect. My mother attempted some geneology work 20 yrs. ago and only got back about as far as my grandparents. My grandfather was Joseph Owen Tunney. He was born in the U.S. on 10/24/? about 1882. I think I can followup on the year. Incidentally, Joe had a pension from So.Pacific R/R. I found that R/R people did not get Social Security, as they had/have some other arrangement. This is why his death is not listed in the SS death index. So, our entire family under
"Joe"(d.1974) and his wife, Winifred(d.1971), began with their marriage in 1915, in Colorado Springs,CO. They had three children:Helen (b.1918 d.1990?),John(Jack)(b.6/3/20)who is my father, and James (b.1924 d.1982). They grew up in Oakland and most all of the three families are still in the San Francisco Bay Area. It appears that our roots go to Colorado and possibly on to Lawrence, KS. In So.Ca., there is the Gene Tunney(boxer) family and he had a son, John, who was a Ca.Senator in the late Sixties. Beyond their celebrity, I don't know anything about them, or Robin Tunney, who may be part of that family.
If any of this interests you, email me and I'll fill in as many blanks as possible.
Good Luck-
Chris
