Hi every Tunnelle/Tunnell and Tunnel,
All of you are kin to ME!! We are probably 6th to 8th
cousins. The first time I saw the name "Tunnell"
spelled "Tunnelle"was in a letter written by Mrs.Tribley Cox,in 1920's to Miss Lucy Ball, who was a descendent of Marcus Lafayette Tunnelle, of Giles Co.Tn. Miss Lucy Ball compiled the entire Tunnell data that was published in 1926 in a book called Noteable Southern Familes -Vol.III by Zella Armstrong.Miss Ball didn't have much data on him so that ended that line. This letter is available to read on Tunnel-L@rootswb.com.I have no idea if there are more Tunnelle's then Marcus L.Tunnelle's group.Marcus lineage is:
Unknown Tunnel(L) then William/Samuel Burgess Tunnell(from N.C.) then Marcus Lafayette Tunnelle. The other known child of Burgess Tunnell was named Wm.(b.1821)and he married Elizabeth Kinzer of Russell Co.Va.NOTE: Mrs.Ann Tunnelle, wife of Walter Tunnelle is also compiling on the descendents of Wm.Tunnell(or Tunnelle?)who was probably born in the 1770's.
Ann's husband Walter is a descendent of Marcus Lafayette Tunnelle Burgess Tunnel(or Tunnelle?)came from N.C.to
Montgomery Co./Wythe Co.Va. Ann's e-mail is: matunnelle@prodigy.net
Note: Please contact both os us !!- Me-- grannywmb@aol.com
************************************************************
Part TWO:There was an Elizabeth Tunnel(one L) who md.George Ball Sr.and thy came from Fairfax Co.Va.and lived nr.Honaker,Russell Co.Va.She did compile on this clan then decided to stop.I have not proved that Elizabeth Tunnel-Ball was the daughter of "Lady"Anne(Howard)and Wm.Tunnel(One-L)b.1702 in Phelan,France. Two of her grandkids married the two grandkids of Rev.Stephen Tunnell Sr.One of the sons of "Lady"Anne and William Tunnel.I descend from the other son Reverand Wm.Tunnell.Anne and Wm.had FOUR known sons so that leaves at least 7 or 8 unnamed sons and daughters for me to find.Well this post is pretty long so will sign off for now.Expect me back often!--I am compiling on all of the above for a Tunnell book that I intend to publish in late 2003 so please contact me.I would like to add your lineage o this book.Wilma M.(COWSAR)Brown P.S. My phone-1-817-8944-E-mail is grannywmb@aol.com-Address is :3300 Hill Top Rd.-Granbury,Tx.76048 My name is grannywmb on theA.O.L.Messinger
