Hello: I currently run 10 Y Chromosome DNA studies. One is the Ball Y DNA study, http://www.ftdna.com/public/Ball/ My Tunnell ancestry comes through the Ball line. Like most of us I have searched for any evidence that shows a French origin for my Tunnell family, the Guillaume Tonnellier and Ann Howard line. I have also noticed that there is an earlier Tunnell family in MD, that of Lt Thomas Tunnell. He moved to Accomack/Northampton Co., VA, and his descendants went to Delaware and produced a Governor of that state. There is a record of a William Tunnell and Arlantia Howard marriage that I have always looked at in light of the Guillaume Tonnellier line. There is a Tonel family and a Gunnell family in Stafford Co., VA, in the time period when my Tunnell family was supposed to be there. I propose that we create a Tunnell, Tonel, Gunnell, Y DNA project to try to determine if these four families are or are not genetically related. In order to do that we need to identify the descendants of each family's founding couple and test their living male descendants of the same surname to see how well their Y DNA compares. The first step is to ask if there are any male surnamed Tunnells reading this board who would be interested in getting tested? Testing can be with a commercial lab or for free through the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation, http://www.smgf.org/ If anyone is interested in testing or knows smeone who might be interested in testing, please let me know. I do not make any money from these studies. Thanks for reading, Steven C. Perkins SCPerkins@gmail.com Notify Administrator about this message?
