Hubert Kyle Tunnell, 78, VA/FLA, obituary
POUND, VA – Hubert Kyle Tunnell, 78, went to be with the
Lord on December 24, 2008, in Leesburg, FLA.
Hubert was of the Baptist faith, a member and a deacon of
the Pound First Baptist Church, a retired U.S. Postal
Service mail carrier, a former employee of Saba's Market,
an Air Force veteran, a member of the Pound No. 59 AF&AM
Masonic Lodge and a Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and
Nannie Edwards Tunnell; his beloved son, Rodney Tunnell;
his sisters, Inez Hopkins and Thelma Gibson; and a
brother, Allard Edwards.
He is survived by his sons, Harry Tunnell of Pound, VA;
Christopher Tunnell and wife Karen of Pound, VA; and David
Tunnell and wife Melissa of Wise, VA; and his former wife,
Eva Tunnell of Wise, VA; three very special grandchildren,
Andrew Tunnell, Alexandra Tunnell and Emmalea Tunnell; one
brother, Herby Tunnell of Coeburn, VA; two sisters,
Pauline Gibson of Elkton, MD, and Yolanda Reid of Weems,
VA; a special friend, Dottie Casteel of Pikeville, TN;
several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and
loved ones to mourn his passing.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday,
December 29, 2008, at the Pound First Baptist Church with
a 7 p.m. Masonic service.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday,
December 30, 2008, at the Pound First Baptist Church, with
the Rev. Jerry Lusk officiating.
Burial will follow in the Temple Hill Memorial Park in
Castlewood, VA, where the Pound V.F.W. Post 9600 will
conduct military graveside services.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
