Hello, I believe the older research stating Thurstan Toone and James Toone, immigrant ancestor to Virginia in 1651, as the same person,to be incorrect based upon these facts for both men.... Thurstan Toone.... Records from Oxford University Alumni, 1500-1886 > 1500-1714, Volume IV > T, page 1496 shows the following.... TOONE, Thurston of Cheshire, pleb. LINCOLN COLL., matric. 22 Oct., 1602, aged 18 (subscribes "Therstans"), B. A. 2 July 1606, M. A. 1 June 1609; rector of Collingtree, Northants, 1630. See Foster's "Index Eccl." ***Noun--1.matric.
