DNA Testing--New Surname Group Includes Tully
Hi Tully Researchers,
I just got the news that a Talley descendant has started a DNA comparison project at Ancestry.com for all variant spellings of the name, officially including Tully. (Test results are matched against everybody in the entire data base but an official surname group gets a discount, web page etc.)
Of course the test isn't cheap---the recommended 37 marker test is $229. Also a direct male descendant is necessary—a father to son, father to son chain. Women need a brother, uncle, first, second, or however many cousin, grandfather etc. of the Tully surname. (My cousin is testing---scraping the inside of his cheek with a little brush to harvest his DNA.)
I'm excited and wanted to let you all know about it. DNA matches are the ultimate genetic "proof". I'm hoping to prove/disprove a lot of my theories and suspicions about lines and relationships as the testing progresses.
The project is at: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Talley%2DTally/http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Talley%2DTally/
Cheers,
Colleen Tully Steel
