TULLEY/TULLY of MALONE, NY
I recently discovered the Malone, NY cemetery transcription website (Http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com~frgen/index.htm), and searched all of the Malone listings. In the St. Joseph's cemetery, I believe I may have found my gr-grandfather James H, who may have been brothers (buried in the same plot, with their parents).
I grew up in Mooers, NY (40 miles east of Malone). My mother's mother was Helen M. Tulley, who was born in Lowville, NY, in 1894. Her father was James H. Tulley. I know nothing about him, other than his approx. birth year (1854-1857), his death year (1915), and that his family was from Ireland. I have been able to locate them in the 1900 and 1910 Malone census records. My mother has mentioned that James was a Malone merchant, and that there once existed a "Tulley block" of stores in Malone.
Here is the info. that was transcribed from the stones:
John Tully, b. June 24, 1823; d. Feb. 12, 1907
Elizabeth A., b. Dec. 25, 1833; d. Feb. 12, 1916
children buried here: William W., b. 8/23/1866, d. 12/28/1904
James H., 1855 - 1915
Barney A., 1869 - 1920
John, 1860 - 1922
I think it's highly likely that this is my gr-grandfather James. He lived in Malone for the last 15-20 years of his life. After he died, his wife Kathryn moved in with her sister in Vermont, then moved to Mooers, NY, to live near her daughter Helen (my grandmother). Kathryn is buried near her sister in Vermont.
Any connections, please e-mail me.
