DAVENPORT IA -- Mass of Christian burial for Charles H. Tully, Davenport, formerly of Dixon, Ill., will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Dixon, with a prayer service at 10 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. Daniel Deutsch will officiate. Burial with military services by the Combined Veterans Group will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m. Charles died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He was employed by the City of Davenport Water Department before his retirement. He was a veteran of the Army from 1953 to 1955, serving in the European Army of Occupation. He was born Feb. 23, 1933, in Dixon, to William and Frances (Weller) Tully. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Davenport; Davenport Knights of Columbus Council 532; and the American Legion. He also was a member of the Davenport-Bettendorf Park Band, Maple City Band in Geneseo and Dixon Municipal Band. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include a sister and spouse, Jane and Boyd Melvin, Dixon; a brother and spouse, William and Ann Tully, Freeport; a sister-in-law, Betty Tully, Dixon; and several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph.
