Dear Richard: Greetings.I reasd your post on the Tullis family with great interest. I am a historian writing a book on the early history of the Cohansey River region in what became Cumberland County, New Jersey. As part of my research, I am trying to identify the places where from where these early settler migrated and develop a database of the earliest settlers to the region so I can draw some conclusions about the makeup of these late 17th and early 18th society.
I have a William Tullis and Francis Tullis (I am not sure if this is the proper spelling) subscribing to the construction of the Greenwich Presbyterian Church (NJ) in 1735.William may have died in 1777.I am trying to locate where he migrated/moved to South Jersey from or where his parents or grandparents migrated/moved from. I realize that they are Scots (probably Scots-Irish), but I was curious if they came to South Jersey sometime before then.
Thank you for any help you or anyone else on the list is able to provide.
