Bob,
See my post no. 2169 of Sept 10, 1999 and no. 2188 by Doug Tucker on Sept 14, 1999.
There is a small Tucker family abandoned cemetary on the farm where Joseph Tucker lived, at Union Village which is just over the Union Co. boundary in Somerset Co. N.J. It was copied by Mr. Baldwin in 1951 and he points out that the greater part of Stony Hill and Stony Hill Valley was originally in New Providence, Essex Co. Then in 1857 that section became a part of Union Co., the state's last formed Co. In 1899 New Providence Twp. was divided into the Borough of New Providence, with its southern portion remaining the Twp. of New Providence. Later in 1951, the twp. (which contained Stony Hill) was re-named Berkeley Heights. The cem. does not contain any headstones for John TUCKER and his wife Catherine LINE. But markers of their son Joseph TUCKER and his wife Deborah LINE and of their son Lines Tucker and his wife Phebe ALLEN are there. The inscription on the stone of Joseph Tucker: Died Feb. 3, 1840 aged 73 yrs and 1 mo. making him born in Jan 1767. This would throw some doubt on his being the Rev. Soldier of that name. Littell gives his wife Deborah's birthdate as March 22, 1777. This didn't seem right to Mr. Baldwin as they were md Mar 30, 1791. Her gravestone clears up everything because it reads that Deborah died Dec 8, 1865 in her 93rd yr. making her born in 1773.
In nearby Springfield, N.J. rests Joseph Tucker who died Feb 25, 1825 in his 79th yr. This Joseph has been identified as the True Rev. War soldier.

This information is from "Tuckers Fort" By. Col. Evan E. Murdock, Ret. of Calif. He sent me a copy of it. He is a descendant of John Tucker and Catherine Line. Their son Henry TUCKER along with John TUCKER 1770-1841 (born Passaic Valley N.J. a relative, but not a brother) founded Tuckers Fort near Cincinnati, Ohio.
