John F. Tucker 1815-1880 GA-VA
Looking for information on the family of John F. Tucker, born about 1815-1821 in Georgia. He is listed in the 1850 census for District 13, Chatham County GA, as a merchant, age 35, having $20,000 of real estate and married to Julia M. (Olmsted) Tucker. He also owned about 100 slaves. He was a prominent businessman in Savannah and implicated in the case of the last slave-running ship "Wanderer" about 1859. I have not been able to find him in the 1860 census.
He appears to be the same person in the 1870 Warren County VA census, age 49, born in GA, retired, and married to Adaline Tucker. In the 1880 census he was visiting his daughter Sarah (Sallie) in Queen Annes County MD, aged 63.
In 1870, my g-grandmother Georgia Howell, also from Savannah, was living with his family in VA, but I have not been able to establish what the connection was. Perhaps she was related to Adaline. Any information on his or his wife's family will be appreciated.
