Obadiah and Elizabeth came to Greene Co., IL around 1843. Another family member has a letter written September 25, 1842 from son Pleasant Tucker in Greene Co. to Obadiah and Elizabeth in Grainger Co., TN. The letter includes mention of Granny James, Winston Ballard, Joseph Stanley, Nancy Morton, Pleasant's brothers John, Thomas and James and Uncle James Tucker. He says "Grandfather Tucker is well and has had his health very well since he has been here". This letter supports the James connection and leads me to believe that grandfather Tucker must refer to Obadiah's father and that he came to Greene Co., IL with Obadiah's older sons, Pleasant, John, Thomas and James, and that Uncle James Tucker must refer to Obadiah's brother. Of course, this is all based on my interpretation of the writings in the letter. The letter was a great find - very exciting.
