Hi. Of course you know that it is/was THE Rayen School ('82)!
You found Pleasant and Nannie in 1910 in the phone book--that is GREAT because they did not show up on the census and it was driving me crazy.Philip was Pleasant's brother, he died 8/6/1920.He is buried at Belmont Cemetery and actually has a headstone although it is quite weathered. I can't figure out what he was doing in New Castle however, because he was married and supposed to be with his wife on Grant Street over here.
Philip and Pleasant started a vault (cemetery plot excavating company) that actually in one of the old phone books listed an address on Front Street which is right downtown around 1900.Philip was married twice. His first wife, Elizabeth, was so much older, that I thought I found him living with his mother in the census. She is buried at Oak Hill and met a tragic death. On 10/29/1890 there is a front page Vindicator article detailing how her body was found in a trench at Elm and Madison.I believe she was suffering from dementia and wandered away from her home. There is one great line in the article where the reporter writes "anyone with half an eye could have seen the danger."So much for Objectivity.
My cell is 330 518-1733.I am going to share your email with my cousin who is helping me search for Pleasant.Let me know if I can help you with your searching.
