To the sheriff of Shelby County
On July 7, 1862, LEWIS V. GREER filed his petition in the district court of Shelby County, alleging that in Dec. 1843, he was appointed by the probate court of said county as administrator in the estate of JAMES TUCKER, deceased, and that all assets of estate were two Land Certificates for one league and headright of James Tucker and the other the headright of WESLEY GOODWIN, both issued in said county of Selby, and two promissory notes, one on C. BEAN and the other on MRS. DUNCAN and C. DEAN/BEAN, as security,… $213.00, .. headright certificate of Wesley Goodwin was not recommended for patent by local and traveling board of land commissioners for Shelby County, and he employed ROYAL T. WHEELER and KENETH L. ANDERSON as partners practicing law under WHEELER & ANDERSON to bring suit against the Republic of Texas to establish the said certificate of Wesley Goodwin as genuine (long description and pursuit of patent)… JAMES TUCKER left at his death, the following named children and heirs of law of his estate: MATILDA TUCKER now MATILDA LOVELL, JAMES M. B. TUCKER, JOHN TUCKER, HARRISON TUCKER, MARY TUCKER now MARY BARLOW, MINERVA TUCKER now MINERVA SHEPPERD, CHARLOTTE TUCKER now CHARLOTTE HENDERSON,… that HARRISON TUCKER, MARY BARLOW, MINERVA SHEPPERD, and CHARLOTTE HENDERSON have made your petitioner a title to all their interests in one-half of the league.. since the death of JAMES TUCKER, JOHN TUCKER died, leaving several children and heirs at law in the estate, living in Louisiana, all minors… (other named Tucker heirs also are citizens of Louisiana)….
