My grandfather's grandmother was Margaret Tubman. She was born December 15, 1827, the daughter of Richard Tubman. She was married February 26, 1846 in the United Church of England and Ireland, Parish of Killinagh, Enniskillen, Cavan County, Ireland. In August of 1851, she arrived in March Township which is just west of Ottawa, Ontario. In later years the family would move across the river to Aylmer, Quebec. Is your Eunice Streight from the Ottawa area? Elizabeth Streight, posting on RootsWeb, lives on the ancestral farm in Augusta Township, Grenville County, which is ~40 miles south of Ottawa. Interesting to note that your Mary Ann Tubman and Richard Tubman both lived in Kemptville, which is ~35 miles south of Ottawa. Oswego, NY is not too far away either. Two of Margaret Tubman's children did not accompany her when she arrived in March Township but are reported to have arrived in 1853. One would presume that a six year old and a four year old did not travel alone, but we have no knowledge of other family members being in the area prior to, or after their arrival. Several other children were born in Canada. Margaret Tubman named her children: Jane, Walter, George William, Elizabeth, John, Robert, James Edmund, Margaret Anna, Frances Matilda and Sarah. Margaret Tubman's son George was 'lost' to us and a recent 'find' has him in Michigan in 1908. Coincidence, ...perhaps. Cousins,...perhaps. Let me know what you think. Pat
