Hi Kay The Tryon's were Flemish weavers and most of them came from the Spanish Netherlands, which covered modern day Holland, Belgium and northeast France. The Tryon's in London from 1570s into the 1600s came from Antwerp, Belgium, however, I haven't located any other areas where they came from. Gov. Tryon returned to England after the Revolutionary War and died there and I have yet to find out how he is related to the immigrant Tryon's of the mid to late 1600s to CT. You may already have found this information, but I'll pass along just in case: He was the son of Charles Tryon and Lady Mary Shirley Tryon and b 8 June 1729 Norbury Park, near Dorking, Surrey, England and d 27 Dec 1788 and buried at St. Mary's Church, Twickenham, Middlesex, England. He had a daughter by Mary Stanton whom he never married. He married in 1757, heiress Margaret Wake, who came with a £30,000 dowry - her father had been the governor of the East India Company and he died in Cape Town S. Africa on his way home to England. I have not been able to locate his illegitimate daughter by Mary Stanton or any children he had with Margaret wake. If you have this information, I would like to know what you found and where you found it. Thanks! Mikki mmmmikkimac@aol.com Notify Administrator about this message?
