I was lucky when trying to find my 3rd grgrandmother Sylvia Barker in an Old Saybrook CT book with church records. Her baptism was there and her marriage record to William Crane. This was long before I had a computer. I spent many hours at a library that had a genealogy dept. There is a website now that has her marriage record online and it has a lot of other CT records.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jdevlin/ However if I hadn't found the book first I wouldn't have been able to identify her as my Sylvia. Later I found on LDS microfilm a book about her husband's ancestor Henry Crane--William & Sylvia are in it along with their only daughter and her husband and where they lived--so I knew from other records I had found that my search paid off. Good luck in your search.
