Obiturary notice posted from "The Times" newspaper; London, England; October 3, 1916 (copied from original issue at hand) - page 6, column 3
"SECOND LIEUTENANT GEORGE MARQUAND TRUSS, Scots Guards, who was killed on September 25, was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. George Marquand Truss, of Fox Hill, Upper Norwood, S.E.He was educated at Dulwich College, and began his career in the City of Lloyd's.In 1910, he joined the Westminster Dragoons(Yeomanry).This regiment was ordered to Egypt in September, 1914, and in the summer of 1915 he was transferred to Suvia Bay, whence, after some months of hard service, he was invalided to Malta with jaundice, arriving home convalescent in December.Last January he obtained his commission in the Scots Guards, in which regiment his younger brother already held a commission."
