SOUTH CAROLINA SERVICE OF ABSALOM BROWN AND MARY ANN BROWN who was a private under Captain William H. Caper’s company of South Carolina militia. Enlisted October 13 1814 and discharged March 8 1815. Bounty Land Warrant 14593 and for 80 acres in 1850 and No 10806 for 80 acres in 1855. SOLDIER’S ORIGINAL PENSION NO 28794 AND Certificate 20790 Widow’s Original 34180 and certificate No 28015.
Residence of soldier 1850 and 1855 was Randolph County Georgia, and in 1873 LaFayette County Florida, at Live Oak Lawrence county Florida. The widow resided at LaFayette County, Post office Luraville, Suwanee county Florida in 1878 and 1879.
Maiden name of widow was Mary Ann Isham or Isan or Isom. They married August 7, 1849 in Randolph County Georgia and soldier died November 14, 1876 in LaFayette county Florida.
DECLARATION was made in Luraville, Florida March 1, 1873 by said Absalom Brown age 75, a resident of LaFayette Co Fla. That his wife’s name was Mary Isom, to whom he was married in Randolph Co Ga Aug 9 1851; that he enlisted under Capt Hiram Capers of McWillier regiment Pinckney’s division at Sumpter 12th Oct 1812 and discharged at Charleston 4-1815 that he was a private and was engaged in guarding the city of Charleston and vicinity during most the time; that his discharge is lost.
Mary Ann Brown stated in 1878 in Luraville Florida that she married Absalom Brown in Terrell County Georgia Aug 7 1849. by Ira Truett J P; that since his discharge they had resided in TWIGGS COUNTY: RANDOLPH AND THEN TERRELL CO IN GEORGIA: THEN MOVED TO LAFAYETTE CO FLORIDA.
CERTIFIED COPY OF THEIR MARRIAGE RECORD IS FILED BY CLERK OF RANDOLPH COUNTY GEORGIA showing Absolom Brown and Mary Isham married Aug 6, 1849. Bounty land claim was filed by Absalom Brown age 54 in 1850 in Randolph County Ga.
