I have a file on the Truesdell family of Moultrieville, Sullivan's Island, SC. I grew up there.
I. David Truesdell b. NY md. divorced wife in NC 1840
children: Jane Elizabeth (md. William C. Clayton)
Francis W.
David B.
Stephen P.
II. Stephen P. Truesdell b. 1840, NC
md. 1st Mary Churchill
md. 2nd her sis, Catherine Churchill
Stephen d. on Sullivan's Island 17 Apr 1919 and is buried there. Along with wife, Mary. Don't know yet about Catherine.
I am doing research for a speech on Sullivan's Island families and the cemetery which is being destroyed to the Mt. Pleasant Perservation Society in Jan. 06.
I am now just beginning to put Stephen's family together. His father, David Truesdell leased land on Sullivan's Island in 1835/1840 to have oyster ponds. He petitioned the state for money to flood them..David also owned a tavern in Charleston. Starting deed search in two weeks. I would be glad to share what I find. I will be off the net for a week. Let me know if I can help and I would like to know about this daughter, Mary in Florida.
