Hi-
I am answering a Trufry/True query to Jane-
Thisis what I found-
No Trufry names in the Maine 1790 census
But... in the 1850 Maine census under Trenton there is a Trufry family- the only one in the 1850 census!!!
Page 275a-
Polly Trufry- age 69, born in Maine
(Polly can be a nick name for Sarah or Sally)
no husband- so she must have been a w. by this census
John Trufry- age 30- Mariner
Benj. Trufry- age 30- Mariner- could they be twins?
Mary I. Trufry- age 28
Lydia Trufry- age 3
Eliza Trufry- age 24(?)
Solomon Trufry- age 1
still in Trenton - page 272a-
Benj. True- age 29- Mariner
Mary E. True- age 26
Salome True- age 1
next door to them- the Leland family( Mary's folks??)
William Leland- age 59, Farmer
and family
there are other Lelands in Trenton- one family next door to Polly Trufry.
In the 1900 Maine census are several True families- I am sending Jane the list so she can look them over before I print them out.
I am also sending a list of all the True bride and grooms from the Maine State Archives online site.
There were 2 brides with the Trufry name in the index-
Adelma F. of Trenton, m. to Frank Dunbar of Steuben, 1893
Estelle of Eden, m. to Tyler W. Stanley of Eden- 1911.
