Hoffman's book "Polish Surnames: Origins and Meanings" there were 1098 people with that surname. The word Truchan froms from the Greek word Tryphon meaning softness and effeminacy. The family I have with that surname came from Northeastern Poland in the old province of Suwalki. Wladyslaw Truchan married Kazimiera Mackiewicz, my cousin. Their children were Jozef, Helena, Wiktorja and Marja. Jozef moved to Canada just across the border from Erie, PA. He never married and had no children.
