Another researcher sent to me a suggestion that may or may not be true: that this was really Perkasie, Pennsylvania and whoever was writing it down had a hard time understanding the thick accent which John Christopher Trubi Sr was said to have. So instead of writing Perkasie (which is in Bucks County, Pennsylvania where the Trubi family lived), the writer put Birkensea or Birkensen. This is a possibility.
