I was told by a volunteer genealogy researcher who happens to have done extensive research on her own family from Switzerland that people who wanted to leave Switzerland had to get permission from the government and receive a travel visa.
Records of such requests are recorded in the LDS library in Utah. I hope to borrow a microfilm of these requests and also check marriages in Switzerland to see if I can find Christopher and Maria Catharine Trubi.
My goal is to find the maiden name of Maria Catharine and the names, birthdates, etc. of her parents and grandparents.
