There was a Harriett Trubee in the early 19thc who married sea captain William Knapp. The Knapp kids were virginia; Lena; Elizabeth, and Isabelle. Captain Knapp died October 3, 1866 when the steamer "Evening Star" sunk in a hurricane going from New york to New Orleans. I have the original handwritten letter from the wife of a surviving seaman to Mrs. knapp, telling Mrs. Knapp how her husband went under, after the lifeboat capsized the second time, and Captain knapp was fatally hit by a piece of wreckage floating in the water. The Life boat capsized a total of 16 times. The letter to Mrs. Knapp details how one seaman who survived had a broked leg, and was at the home of the Mayor of Fernandina, Florida, until he could be moved.
