Troyer Records, U.S. and Canadian
The Troyer Archives Committee in Ontario, Canada was formed in 1978 and since that time, we have endeavoured to keep records on the early Troyer connections, from Michael and Magdalena (Mast) Troyer to present-day Troyer family members. We have records on all of the children of Michael and Magdalena and also on some of the spousal lines; 20,000 families in all to-date.I am descended through the third child of Michael and Magdalena -- Christian Troyer of Vaughan, Ontario.Only two of the children of Michael came to Canada to settle, our Christian and his brother John Troyer of Long Point on Lake Erie.My ancestor Christian Troyer is credited with bringing 35 families to Ontario to settle, their names appear on a petition for land and they are attesting to his good character.Christian returned to the U.S. approx. 1816 to settle near Walnut Creek, Ohio where we have erected a memorial in the little graveyard on that property. His oldest son David (called Canada Dave) returned with his father to Holmes Co., Ohio where a number of Christian's siblings had already settled in an area known even today as Troyer Valley. We can be very proud of the rich Troyer history, both in the U.S. and in Canada !
