MICHAEL TROYER, SR."Some researchers believe that Michael Troyer, Sr., arrived in Philadelphia in
1767 with his family and that his first wife died on voyage or soon thereafter.How-
ever, a book published in 1889 Commemorative Biographical Record of the Counties of
Wayne and Holmes, Ohio (page 660), has a statement by great-grandson Seth Troyer that
"Michael Troyer was brought to this country between the years 1745 and 1750 when a boy
of probably eight years of age by his step-father (John) Holly." Mr. Leroy Beachy,
Millersburg, Ohio, who has done research on the Troyer family, believes this to be
true, except that he thinks Michael Troyer was at least 16 years of age when he arrived here in 1750.Persons 16 years of age and older signed the ship list.A ship's
list is signed in 1750 by John Holly and by Michael Holly, who is probably Michael
Troyer. There is also an old Holly family Bible that seems to indicate this is
Plausable.
